‘Quit for Two’ is a joint initiative between Lancashire County Council, Blackburn with Darwen Council and Cumbria County Council. Following a competitive pitch, we were delighted to be chosen to create an innovative website that encourages and helps young pregnant women to quit smoking.
To make sure quitfortwo.co.uk hit home and dealt sensitively with the issue, we attended focus groups with young mums to get a real insight into their needs and views. This inspired the vibrant look of this responsive, mobile friendly website that’s specifically designed to appeal to and engage with young pregnant women aged 16-25.
Through simple messages young mums-to-be are encouraged to take the first step to quit and access local stop smoking support services for the sake of their health and their baby’s health. The website offers practical help and challenges people’s attitudes by busting the myths and promoting the health and financial benefits of quitting smoking. The website also supports local healthcare professionals by giving them access to a variety of tools and resources.
The young mums we talked to were key to the development of the website. And we worked with visual media agency Brickhouse to create powerful videos of some of them talking about how they were able to quit smoking when pregnant with the help of their local stop smoking service.
